ADVENTURES WITH ARDUINO
Week 4 July 18th - 22nd)
Instructor Alba Cardenas
Campers will be exploring computer programming and circuitry in this camp week as they learn how to program with Quirkbots and Arduino. They will write code and learn to use a breadboard as they design their projects.
Week Schedule
Day 1:
- Ice Breaker activity: What is Technology?
- Paper Airplanes-Algorithms
- (camp day photos) (additional photos)
- Reflect and Review the Paper Airplane activity and prepare for the next activity
- Continue Algorithms: How-to-Make a PBJ Sandwich
- Begin Comparison of Computer vs. Human Senses discussion to start code introduction:
- Differentiate between inputs and outputs of computers and humans
- Binary numbers and the basics of the code computers read
- Discuss the computer and the human senses and look for the parallels we have in common
- Introduce the systems of operations with binary numbers/ game todecode sounds to make words using binary codes
- (camp day photos)
Day 3:
- Strawbee Building Basics
- Building Basics continues and general shape making (pyramid, cube, arm).Try two or more challenging projects (claw and catapult or shoe-merang) if time permits.
- (camp day photos)
- Review and present ideas for final device and decide what technology to use (servos or motors) etc.
- CODE Structure, building, incorporating code and electronics. Those further along will begin testing their devices and do the tasks. Begin incorporating electronics, and introduce the code to alter the settings and setup for the device’s function.
- Continue coding and incorporating electronics begin testing devices and revise to do the tasks
- (camp day photos)
- Camper presentations on project journeys so far
- Continue coding and fine-tuning electronics on projects
- End of camp week Showcase
