Week 2: Peer Projects and Tinkering
July 2 to July 6
(No camp on July 4th)

This week focuses on learning from others, then exploring what was learned through tinkering. During Focused Learning, previous campers will have the opportunity to lead visual arts projects they created. We will also have Guest Artists/Arts Educators doing fun and engaging activities with the campers. Campers will have the opportunity to design and create their own projects during Tinker time.
Monday (July 2)
9:00am Intros
Sewing Circuitry with Eunice Almira
Campers will learn the basics of sewing, as well as a review of circuitry and
create a simple circuit with a switch on fabric,
10:15am BREAK
10:30am Sewing circuitry continued
Campers will apply their knowledge of sewing curcuitry to create a badge that lights up.

Tuesday (July 3)
9:00am Character Design with Leonard Morales
Campers will sketch characters on paper and then choose one or two
to create with pipe cleaners

Campers will complete their final design using wire armiture

Thursday (July 5)
9:00am Hydraulic Engineering with Emily Takara
Campers will explore making moving parts using pneumatics,
which is the use of gas or pressurized air in mechanics.
Activity 1: Cone Pop Outs
Campers use syringes, plastic tubing and paper to create a moving scene
What comes out of the cone?

Campers create pneumatic hinging systems using popsicle stick, syringes and cardboard.

Friday (July 6)
9:00am Game Design with Joon Luther
Campers will work in small teams to design a simple game in Javascript.
They will use pixel art to draw a character, background, and other objects in the game.
They will learn basic programming to add functionality to their game.
