Summer 2023 Art & Design Thinking Camp

Who:    Entering 6th through 8th grade students.

What:   Project-Based Day Camp


Where: 
East San José STEM Workshop
              Joseph George Community Center
              285 Mahoney Dr
              San Jose CA 95127

When:   Weekly workshops from June 20 to July 28, 2023
              This is an full day camp from 9am to 3pm daily, 
except on Fridays when camp ends at 4:30pm

              A Student Showcase is held every Friday from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.
                    Camper participation in the Showcase is mandatory.



Cost:     Alum Rock School District students attend at no cost (Registration Verification required)
              Other San Jose Residents - $100 per week 
              Non-Residents - $400 per week.
              Scholarships are available for students who qualify for the 
                    Free/Reduced Lunch Program.


This year’s program will include six, 1-week sessions and will be presented in-person. Materials will be provided for all activities in the classroom. Each session has a different theme and the camp day is divided into two parts - Focused Learning and Tinker Time .
All campers must be dropped off and picked up daily. 

Weekly Camp Sessions Themes:
Week 1 - June 20 - 23: STEAM Smorgasbord, Instructor – Various 
Week 2 - June 26 - June 30: Needle Felting: Giving Form to Fiber, Instructor – Stephani Metz
Week 3 - July 3 - 7: Upcycled Art
, Instructor – Various
Week 4 - July 10 - 14: UnStuffies: Sewing & Engineering, Instructor - Amy Brown
Week 5 - July 17 - 21: Inflatable Worlds: Designing with Air, Instructor – Amy Brown
Week 6 - July 24 - 28: Art & Nature, Instructor – Various
You may select up to 6 weeks when registering your child. Each student requires a separate registration form.

Camp Registration Information:
Please complete and submit the online registration form to register your child for camp. 
Students must register at least one week prior to the scheduled session to participate.
