Week 2: Peer Projects and Tinkering
July 1 to July 3 (No camp on July 4th or 5th)
Instructor: Alba Cardenas


​​This week focuses on learning from others, then exploring what was learned through tinkering. During Focused Learning, previous campers will have the opportunity to lead visual arts projects they created. We will also have Guest Artists/Arts Educators doing fun and engaging activities with the campers. Campers will have the opportunity to design and create their own projects during Tinker time.
 
Monday (July 1)

 9:00am           Character Design with Leonard Morales
                         Campers will sketch characters on paper and then choose one or two
                           to create with pipe cleaners
10:15am                   BREAK
10:30am            continued
                            Campers will create a final design using wire armiture

Tuesday (July 2)
 9:00am           BioDesign with the BioBuddies
                        Come play with the biomaterial kombucha leather in this special one day workshop! Using grown kombucha leather,
                          a bacterial cellulose, design your own doll, a petri dish kaleidoscope, and 3D printed wings. To find out more

 9:10am           Activity 1 - Kombucha Paper Doll
                         
Campers will make a silhouette and design a costume from kombucha leather. What will your character wear?
10:15am                     BREAK
10:30am         Activity 2 - Kombucha Leather Lego Wings
                         
Campers will skin 3D printed wings with kombucha leather and snap them to Legos. Invent your own creature!
11:00 am        Activity 3 - Petri Dish Kaleidoscope
                         Using simple materials campers will create their own kaleidoscope to look at patterns of kombucha leather and leaves.

Wednesday (July 3)

 9:00am           Marble Runs with Emily Takara
                         Campers will construct and design their own themed marble run! Explore different mechanisms
                           and materials to use in your track. Decorate your marble track with a theme like a location, scene, or story.
                           What path will your marble take? 
 9:10am           Campers will sketch and design their Marble Runs
