Engineering for Your Environment
Mini Week - July 5-7
Instructor – Erin Salter
Campers will design housing, transportation, and more to fit various environments. Campers will need to think about environmental demands and ways to meet those challenges in a fun and artistically creative way.
Week Schedule
Wednesday:
- What does engineering for you environment mean? Talk about different environmental challenges
- Design and craft a rover for an alien planet

Thursday:
- Discuss earthquake forces and safety: videos and discussion - what does it take for a building to be stable in an earthquake?
- Create models of earthquake safe towns/buildings
- Test your buildings on an earthquake table, revise your buildings to be safer or take on more advanced challenges

Friday:
- Harnessing the wind: talk about wind power and build pinwheels as an example
- Build boats that move using wind but no sails
- A floating pirate city: put together a city that can stand the wind and the waves
